The semifinals stages of this year's National Science and Maths quiz (NSMQ) began today.
This stage began with a contest between PRESEC from Greater Accra region, St. Peter’s from Eastern region and Chemu SHS also from Greater Accra region was the first contest of this year's tournament.
PRESEC was represented by Prince Debrah Appiah Jnr. and Henry Mawunya Otumfuo.
At the end of the first round, PRESEC- Legon was leading with 24 points, ST. Peter’s SHS came in second with 12 points and Chemu SHS in third with 8 points.
After the second round, PRESEC was still leading with 31 points, St.Peter’s SHS still in second place with 15 points and Chemu SHS had 6 points, placing third.
Before the third round, Presec - Legon substituted Henry Mawunya Otumfuo for Joel Aboagye.
At the third round, all schools are given the same question which is termed as the problem of the day.
PRESEC had zero points, St. Peter’s SHS also scored zero points and Chemu SHS got 2 points.
Thus, at the end of the third round, PRESEC was still in the lead with 31 points, St. Peter’s SHS still in second place with 15 points, and Chemu SHS in third with 8 points.
Before the fourth round, St. Peter’s SHS substituted Boahene-Siaw Kelvin Nana for Nesco Nanzie Benjamin.

After the fourth round, PRESEC - Legon had 44 points, St. Peter’s SHS with 31 points and Chemu SHS got 18 points.
Then off to the last round which is the fifth round of the contest. The fifth round are for riddles.
At the end of the fifth round and end of the contest, PRESEC - Legon carried the day with 50 points, St. Peter’s came second with 34 points and Chemu SHS earned 21 points placing them in the third position.
Congratulations to PRESEC - Legon for making it through to the grand finale of this year's NSMQ competition.
